Our partner De Baak - one of Europe's leading leadership development institutes hosted a major leadership event

This event, "Meet the World" was held on 7 January 2011.  The focus was on Europe, its challenges and how leaders can navigate the immediate future.

"Europe is experiencing multiple challenges, whilst facing financial uncertainty and confusion about values and beliefs, in addition to upheavals in various areas including employment, health, education and religion". In response, De Baak invited some of Europe's most esteemed leadership thinkers and professionals to start formulating guiding principles for the immediate future to speak at its 'Meet the World' event.

Peter Robertson was among several thought leaders who spoke.  Peter introduced his scientific theory about values.  This theory makes values tangible and easy to understand in daily practice.  The principles underpinning this theory also find application to topics like reputation, corporate communication, identity, service, customer loyalty etc.

Peter made clear that values, once established, are always at risk of deteriorating and can never be taken for granted.  He described how, because of the physical nature of values, they always deteriorate when things grow.  This fundamental paradox that growth and loss of values are inextricably linked, for physical reasons, is one of the most important dilemmas that any leader faces.

Also speaking was Tim Harle who is an associate consultant at Bristol Business School and an Associate of Human Insight.  His theme was on how Western approaches to leadership are underpinned by an implicit Newtonian worldview.

Human Insight held the international launch of the ACT-cubeTM

at the Imagination Gallery, London, on the 7th May.

Peter Robertson described the almost 8 years of work that has gone in to creating a completely new process for creating sustainable organisational performance.  Martin Ewart described the use of the cube at Elision.  Jayne Gould of Gemserv contributed her practical insights to the panel Q&A which helped define what makes the ACT-cubeTM different from comparable processes.  It:

measures different things in organisations
The ACT-cubeTM measures the foundations of human behaviour - evolutionary drives which can't be changed but which can be 'marshalled' - allowing leaders to become genuine strategists.

is driven by hard science
Research carried out long before the ACT-cubeTM was created validate the drives it measures.

is directly linked to business performance/cycles
It's very difficult and time consuming to link psychometric test results on an indivdual to real business problems; it requires an act of 'bottom up' translation.  In contrast, the ACT-cubeTM results map directly onto and draw from a detailed analysis of the business cycle.  There's no: 'So what?'

measures the organisation as a system
Psychometrics is about (indeed that's its definition) identifying individual differences.  The ACT-cubeTM measures the organisation as a system.

produces results quickly
As soon as the last questionnaire is completed a picture of your organisation's readiness for change and strategic diversity - and the consequent impact on strategy execution - is clear.

We are offeringa range of intoductory options for leaders who would like to sample the power of the ACT-cubeTM in practice.
